I've just solved another little problem that arose from migrating my the Cybersalt Site from Joomla 1.5 to 1.6 and beyond.
In the wonderful sh404SEF add-on component, there is an area where urls generating 404 errors are listed along with tools to redirect them to their new SEF url. When you click on the url generating the 404, you are supplied with sh404SEF's best guess(es) as to what the redirect should be.
However, sh404SEF does not always know what to do with the 404 urls. For instance, it hasn't even a guess what new page might be the old url "content/view/2012/570" and unless you are savant at having the id#s memorized for every article on your site, you don't either. But, once you decipher the old url you can easily find out what page it points to and then search in the sh404SEF 404 errors tool to set up the proper redirect.
In the url "content/view/2012/570" the last number refers to the article's "id" number. So if you take that article id# and put it into an url formatted similarly to http://www.cybersalt.org/index.php?view=article&id=570, the article will be displayed on your site, thus giving you all the clues you need to filter words from the article title when creating the custom redirect in sh404SEF.
